Project Name: Paribartan (Connecting Households to Agriculture, New-Market Growth and Empowerment

Project Area: Gujara Municipality & Chandrapur Municipality Rautahat

Project Goal:  Smallholder farming households, particularly women and the most vulnerable HHs have sustainable economic growth and climate-resilient communities in the Rautahat district.

Project Outcomes:

      • Smallholding farmers have increased production through adoption of climate resilient agriculture technologies and practices
      • Smallholding farmers have enhanced access to agriculture inputs and output market, extension and financial services
      • Local government and the communities have strengthened capacities for climate action
      • Communities and local institutions adopt positive social behavior change towards GEDSI, SGBV prevention and response, and action against social discrimination and exclusion.  

 

Brief Summary of Project: 

PARIBARTAN project aims to promote sustainable economic growth and climate resiliency of smallholder farmers particularly women and most vulnerable household of Rautahat district through increased production with adoption of climate-resilient agriculture, enhanced access to agriculture inputs and output market, extension and financial services,  strengthened local government-community collaboration on climate action; and social equity through GEDSI/SGBV awareness, local capacity-building, and policy advocacy.

Key achievements:

  • Conducted local-level inception meetings in Chandrapur and Gujara Municipalities in the presence of local government representatives, farmers, and other relevant stakeholders to formally initiate the project activities.
  • Organized a Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) workshop for project staff.
  • Assessed existing farmer groups in the working areas and re/formed 100 farmer groups as official project working groups in Chandrapur and Gujara Municipalities.
  • Conducted Group Management and Leadership Development Training for farmer groups on a cluster basis to strengthen leadership capacity and effective group functioning.
  • Organized Saving and Credit Management Training for farmer groups on a cluster basis to enhance financial literacy and promote sustainable group-based savings practices.
  • Coordinated and organized activities related to the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and World Disability Day in close collaboration with the municipalities and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPWDs).
