Project Objective:
- Increased livelihood opportunities for 1000 GBV survivors and at-risk women and young girls of Rajpur and Chandrapur Municipalities.
- Improved attitude, Knowledge, behavior and protection among 34,155 women girls, men and boys of the targeted communities of Rajpur and Chandrapur Municipalities.
- Improved delivery of public services and GBV prevention in targeted Chandrapur and Rajpur municipalities and Rautahat districts.

Brief Summary of Project:
Rural Development center Nepal, Rautahat is implementing a protection-related project in the Rautahat district with the support of Islamic Relief Nepal, emphasizing interventions in protection and livelihoods. This project “Accelerating Actions to Reduce gender Based Violence (GARVA)”. Was initiated in June 2023 and is implement in the Rajpur and Chandrapur municipalities of Rautahat districts. This project aims to reduce Gender Based Violence (GBV) and enhance the well-being of 34,155 women, men, girls, and boys in the project’s target municipalities. This goal will be achived through several key strategies, including improving the economic empowerment of GBV survivors or at-risk women and girls, enhancing the capacity of ervice providers and local bodies, and raising awareness about GBV prevention and available services.

Key Achievements:
• 40 Self help Groups were formed and registered in municipality where 1000 rightsholder start saving in SHGs as Group saving and credit approach and 150 Rightsholders were benefited from this approach.
• 1013 GBV survivors/ at risks women were identified who were supported with life skills-based trainings and input support worth Rs. 60,000 to engage in income generating activities
• More than 90% of rightsholders start earning and made income of Rs. 500-800 on daily basis.
• 400 dropouts pr at risk of dropout children are supported with stationery , school dress, bag, Umbrella, sweater etc. to enroll into the formal education worth 4000 in year 1st and Rs.4000 in Year 2nd.
• 96 community learning and protection centers have been established and are being operated to strength the protection of child mechanism in communities throught conduction of Various level of sessions on Rupantaran module in reflect approach.
• 2420 adolescent girls were enrolled in 24 Community Learning and Protection Center (CLPC) and 1800 were graduate from CLPC after completing course of Rupantaran models along with 150 adolescent girls were able to possess citizenship.
• 67 adolescents’ girls were participated in two-day self-defense trainings aimed to enhance self-confidence and behavioral changes.
• One Municipal level Girl’s cricket tournament was organized in Rajpur municipality aimed at equipping girls with self-confidence, tolerance and realization of girls' power to challenge traditional gender attitudes, Shun GBV, and promote gender equality. 87 adolescent girls participated in this event.
• 3 rights holders received 4 assistive devices and one rights holder received an assertive device (a hydraulic tricycle) after assessment.
• 130 community networks (Child club, women group, self-help groups (SHGs), social supportive group (SSGs), youth groups) formed /reactive with functional alert system that work as a watchdog in their community. 164 community led awareness activities addressed critical themes such as signature campaigns against child marriage, rallies and awareness campaigns against GBV, legal frameworks for combating GBV, gallery presentations on women’s rights and violence, dowry system awareness, street dramas opposing child marriage and sanitation and hygiene awareness.
• 70 Community influencers/ faith leaders/community female health volunteer/ teachers were identified and 56 were provided channel of hope training to appoint them as champion of change to mobile them to conduct 258 events covering critical topics such as GBV, societal gender perceptions, the value of education, the harmful impact of child labour, and gender equality at community level.
• 354 sensitization session was conducted to improve culturally appropriate knowledge and practices of 2845 parents/ caregivers on parenting, childcare practices and child rearing skills.
• 44 intergenerational dialogues were organized with community people for End child marriage.
• 118 deep handpumps were installed in the community of Rajpur and Chandrapur municipality for safe drinking water covering more than 500 households.
• 17 Bathing cubicles were constructed in target area aiming to ensure safety and dignity of adolescent girls and women.
• Four-servicers providers ( Women cell Gaur and Garuda, OCMC and Safe house) were supported with the necessary items (Desktop, printers, washing machine, ECG machine, MVA set, Triple, Chair, Daraz, etc) as per the need assessment to strength and equip them to provide service efficiently to survivors. Also conduct 2 workshops on update and dissemination of referral system to service providers as Capacity building.
• 69 GBV survivors were referred to services providers like OCMC, Health post, Police and court to get further legal support.
• 26,154 rightsholders benefited from the project directly and indirectly.
