Mr. Ramesh Thakur is 39 years old. His wife Mrs. Anita Devi is 35 years old and is a barber by profession. Ramesh Thakur has Three son & Daughter i.e., one son, 10 years old and Two daughter, 5 years old & 11 years old. Among them one of his son & Daughter were RC (1446) & (2032). All of his son & daughters were going to school. He has 2 dhur land right now. He has leased 3-4 dhur of land and built a two-room hut with a mud structure. He had received Saloon Items support as livelihood support in 2022 of Rs. 40,000/-
Before getting support through RDC Nepal in coordination with World Vision, he was in a state where, despite having the skills and the desire to start his own business and open a salon, he lacked both the fund & willpower. He wandered around the village, cutting hair but earning very little, often receiving no payment from many people. Due to this it was very difficult to mange his family expenses.
During the starting of FY22, UPG project team of RDC Nepal and World Vision field lead worked to include the beneficiary in the UPG Program. After conducting a household survey, the beneficiary met the UPG criteria and was enrolled as a UPG beneficiary. He received three days of SIYB training and expressed his intention to start a salon business. Subsequently, he was supported with salon items.
He has made one room hut with a mud structure, where he has taken lease for making house in his village, Garuda Chowk, and started a salon business. Now he operates the salon daily, generating a good income. With these earnings, he manages his family's expenses and ensure that all his children go to school regularly.
After receiving salon support, he has been generating a good income and recently opened a grocery shop near the salon. The grocery shop is also bringing in good income.
